DVA is seeking people who are passionate about veterans and their families, to help deliver our commemorative program - ensuring that veterans' service is appropriately and meaningfully acknowledged and commemorated.
Given the nature of the work, we are seeking individuals who have delivered successful outcomes within a high-profile and high-pressure environment, while managing competing priorities. Our successful candidates will have strong attention to detail and be confident in providing verbal and face-to-face briefings and written communication, including to executive level staff and high office holders. The key attributes required include professional presentation, initiative, personal drive, energy and integrity.
A knowledge of Australian military history, Defence ceremonial knowledge and experience is highly desirable.
The key duties of the position include
- Lead a team to plan and deliver domestic and/or international commemorative services including operations, logistics, security and service content development
- Identify, escalate and manage risks associated with the delivery of commemorative services; management of regulatory activities, development and management of resources and public facing materials eg. websites, orders of service, media releases, speeches
- Represent DVA at meetings, conferences, events and public forums
- Develop and manage key strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders promoting and delivering DVA's commemorative program including Defence, AWM, AFP, Home Affairs, and DFAT
- Engage with ex-service organisations and the veteran community, responding to enquiries and correspondence in a formal capacity and when consultation is required, and in-person including in delivery of commemorative services
- Provide clear and supportive team and peer leadership and direction on DVA's commemorative program and related activities, facilitating an inclusive and positive team culture which values capability uplift and ensures employee engagement and wellbeing.
