Who we are
Traveller Operations & Policy (TO&P) Branch develops and implements regulatory policy for traveller biosecurity and human health, drives modernisation and reform initiatives, delivers biosecurity regulatory screening and inspections of goods at air and seaports and manages non-compliant travellers including by issuing infringement notices. The branch is leading the planning and design of the department's requirements for the new Western Sydney International Airport.
Travellers Operations perform a range of screening, inspection and assurance related activities associated with international aircraft and crew, air and sea passengers at international airports and ports nationally.

As an Administration Officer you will be responsible for supporting governance activities and managing administrative tasks across the Travellers Operations Section to achieve outcomes in line with the department's corporate plan and the divisional business plan. Duties may include but are not limited to:
• handling purchasing, expense management and invoice processing to ensure responsible use of financial resources
• managing administrative tasks including organising meetings, providing support for operational travel arrangements, maintaining office equipment and supplies, fleet management, maintaining security clearances and updating databases and registers
• facilitating resource allocations for overtime and casual workforce arrangements
• monitoring, responding to and disseminating electronic mail in a timely manner
• preparing and managing correspondence, reports and other documents to support decision making processes
• supporting administrative governance activities, including ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures
• developing and maintaining positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders
• assisting with the onboarding of, and providing administrative support to, new employees
• engaging in learning and development opportunities to achieve personal and team objectives
• managing, modelling and monitoring compliance with appropriate standards of behaviour in line with departmental expectations and including the APS Code of Conduct and Values
• promoting and complying with departmental WHS and Rehabilitation policies and guidelines and being alert for and reporting risks to local management and WHS.
Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill two vacancies in the section and that the roles may be able to be performed from either of the locations listed above. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
