The Role
Assistant Directors in AGO lead multidisciplinary teams under broad and limited direction, achieving results within an integrated workforce. You will use your experience and understanding of Government, Defence and National Intelligence Community to successfully lead your team and achieve expected outcomes. AGO is seeking to fill a number of vacant positions including Project Managers.
AGO needs skilled, enthusiastic and self-motivated Assisted Directors who:
- Lead, Manage and motivate their team or teams to achieve outcomes supporting Defence and National priorities.
- Engage in complex problem solving, issues and people management, coordinating on sensitive projects affecting strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.
- Collaborate effectively to build and sustain strong working relationships, motivate and provide constructive feedback to the team, and across stakeholder groups.
- Support strategic decision-makers by preparing high-quality project reporting, briefs and presentations.
- Contribute to team capability development through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Respond to tasking from AGO Directors supporting the governance and management of the branch.
- Ensure compliance with policy, security and legislative frameworks.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
There are four branches hiring:
Targeting Mission & Engagement leads AGO's international engagement, mission management and support to ADF operations. TME ensures the broad range of AGO outputs are integrated and delivered against Defence, Defence Intelligence Group, and broader government priorities.
GEOINT Capability Delivery is responsible for the acquisition and sustainment of capabilities necessary to support AGO's missions and Government priorities. The capabilities and systems GCD maintain, support the full GEOINT processes to meet AGO analyst and ADF requirements.
Data Collection & Futures leads AGO's data enabling and collection of space based satellite imagery. They collect, purchase, retrieve and innovate AGO's GEOINT data for maximum advantage. DCF supports decision makers, ADF operations and national security functions.
Foundation Geospatial supports National Defence through production, acquisition, assurance and dissemination of foundational geospatial data. This provides Defence and Government detailed information of the Earth's surface enabling ADF Mission Planning, Manoeuvre, Battlefield Aviation and Long Range Strike.
GEOINT Enterprise and Executive provides AGO's corporate enabling functions including GEOINT training and tradecraft, finances and contracting and procurement, policy, compliance and governance; and security, estate and records management.
