Description of the job
The Great Barrier Reef is a massive tropical marine ecosystem of 3000 individual coral reefs, deep shoals, seagrasses and mangrove systems that support many thousands of marine species. It is the sea country home for about 70 Traditional Owner groups whose connections with the Reef go back more than 60,000 years.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Reef Authority) sits within the Australian Government Agriculture, Water and Environment Portfolio and reports to the Minister for the Environment. Our head office is in Townsville, North Queensland, with offices based in Cairns, Yeppoon, Gladstone and Canberra. Our objective is the long-term protection, ecologically sustainable use, understanding and enjoyment of the Great Barrier Reef for all Australians and the international community, through the care and development of the Marine Park.

The key duties of the position include
We are seeking highly motivated applicants to tell us about the skills, experience and qualifications they can bring to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Reef Authority) by submitting a general expression of interest for employment opportunities.
The Temporary Employment Register is open for candidates to register a general expression of interest (EOI) with the Reef Authority. Non-ongoing or temporary opportunities may be offered on a full-time, part-time or intermittent/irregular basis, depending on business requirements. The register may be used to fill positions at the APS 2 to APS 6 classifications or Executive Level 1 to Executive Level 2 classifications.
